Mobile Device Ownership
There are several device ownership scenarios that require consideration as customers determine how they are going to manage their employee’s mobile devices being used to access company information and resources. Device ownership can span from pure company ownership to employee ownership. In each scenario the need for mobile device management is necessary but the implementation will vary per scenario.
MobileRMM
MobileRMM provides a way to deal with all of the below usage scenarios for both iOS and Android mobile devices. Unfortunately, iOS and Android approaches to dealing with the below scenarios are different but result in achieving similar functionality.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
BYOD is a usage model which empowers employees to work from anywhere by allowing them to securely access business-critical data from their personal devices, instead of corporate-owned devices.
Company Owned
Company Owned is a usage model in which a company will enforce strict usage of the mobile device for company only purposes. Only company required applications will be available on the device and internet access will be limited for business use only.
Company Owned Personally Enabled (COPE)
COPE is a usage model designed for when a company provides its employees with mobile devices and allows the employees to use them as if they were personally owned tablets or smartphones.
Dedicated Device
Dedicated Device is a usage model designed for company-owned devices that fulfill a single use case such as digital signage, ticket printing, or inventory management. This solution set allows IT admins to further lock down the usage of a device to a single app or small set of apps. IT admins can prevent other apps from starting and prevent other actions performed on the device.
